FUN Sails into Sydney Harbour

When Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Adventure sailed into Sydney Harbour, it wasn't travelling alone. Bobbing alongside it was a custom-built, larger-than-life FUN emoji, complete with sunglasses and a captain's hat, there to make sure nobody missed the point: Carnival is 4 Times the FUN.
An Entrance That Made Waves
The emoji's arrival was the kind of moment that stops people mid-scroll. As it made its way through the harbour beside the ship, media and onlookers reached for their phones, and a family cruise line suddenly had one of the most talked-about entrances Sydney Harbour had seen in a while.

The Party Comes Ashore
Once the Carnival Adventure docked, the FUN emoji found a new home at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, where it became an instant selfie hotspot. Guests lined up to enter a social competition for the chance to win a cruise, while roaming mini-emoji mascots, the CCL FUN Squad, kept the energy moving through the precinct. Media and VIPs got the full experience too, with a curated ship tour and celebration event rounding out the festival-style day.
The Numbers Behind the Fun
By the end of it, 4 Times the FUN had reached over 18 million people across mainstream, social and travel media. It was bold, colourful and impossible to ignore, and it captured exactly what Carnival is about: a family-first cruising experience worth celebrating, in a way people actually wanted to be part of.
